A one-pot CO2-assisted green synthesis of Sorbitol from cellulose(-based) waste
A research group from one of Italy's top universities in international rankings has developed a one-step CO2-assisted process to convert cellulose into sorbitol, achieving high yields with CO2 as a low-cost, ecofriendly byproduct. CO2, hydrogen, and catalyst can be recovered and reused, making the method sustainable and economically viable. Companies in the food, chemical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors are sought for technology transfer agreements to implement the technology on the market
